Can anyone advise on any companies other than
Honigs / Honigs Europe Lesters Upstate Sports
that may sell field shoes. Need a new pair, as my others are giving me "arch pain" and are pretty much worn through.
If it's a UK or European supplier, so much the better as it negates the possible VAT problem. If you can recommend a boot / shoe ... I would be grateful
Thanks in advance
Mike

The boots I swear by are the ASICS Gel Lethal series. The blades'll work fine on anything from 3G artificial surfaces up to a reasonably claggy Chutney Ferrets field in the middle of a rainstorm. www.amazon.co.uk/Asics-Lethal-Club-Rugby-Boots/dp/B000VAFU9AThat's basically what you're looking for, although they're also sold as hockey shoes if you shop around and/or use eBay (they're exactly the same thing), and doing that means you can get a far wider range of prices and sizes. If anyone wants a boot that'll take a decent stud, then try looking for the Gel Warno or Gel Lethal Grip, which are just as good in terms of support but have screw-in studs.

Hello
Have only used one make in 23 years...SPOTBILT...but have only ever bought them from Honigs. If you know your US size find a pal (i'm sure you have one or two) who will be visiting the States in the near future then order from Honigs to be delivered to a US address.
Have just spent a week in Whitby...I think thats in Yorkshire...a bit unsure as it was sunny and warm for 4 days

Hello Have only used one make in 23 years...SPOTBILT...but have only ever bought them from Honigs. When I was over at College Station in September I made sure to get myself a pair. However, Graham, don't you find that they disintegrate on the inside a little?

That's probably because you've got the later model - the OS98 or OS99? (pictured below) They aren't as good as they used to be back in the day, the OS95. The newer ones still have a similar tread pattern to the originals, but the uppers just aren't made of such tough leather like they used on the OS95, and the 98 tongue is fabric instead of leather. On my last trip to Michigan, I got the final pair of OS95's that Honig had in the warehouse, they were my size and they were on sale - just occasionally I do land butter side up! They are patiently waiting in the cupboard for the current pair to fall apart. Shoes are a very personal thing - everyones feet are different, some folks swear by Spots, some hate 'em. I got my first pair of OS95's in 91 and loved 'em, I find them really comfortable.

I just use the boots that I wear to play football in normally. £14.99 Umbro astros from Sports World in Bracknell.
I don't see the need to invest heavily.
I too have been to Whitby. I found it to be somewhat pleasant.
